Serenity gingerly dried her green eyes as she gazed into the distance of New York City. It was 3am and she was lost in the dark abyss of an alleyway. Rats roaming crazily on the damp ground for a bit of food from the dumpster. "How could this have happened"?, she thought to herself. Touching her swollen head she felt warm blood dripping down and brushed it away. The location of where she was at this moment of time was unknown to her. She had only moved here from Boston two week's ago to start studying Linguistics at Columbia. He said he would be her friend. He said she could trust him. He said they would have fun. He said she was safe. He said. He said. She had promised herself she would learn from her past mistakes, and yet again she was in another predicament. Trust for men did not come easily. Landon seemed so humorous and friendly. He had stealthy made his way into her life. Studying together at the library. Visits to the park. Coffee dates. Serenity began to ponder the past events of the day with her hands slowly making there habitual way into her pockets. EMPTY. Where was her I.D? Where was her debit card? Where was her cell phone?Of course everything valuable she had brought with her had been taken away. She should have expected it, should have looked for it. It was a vicious cycle for Serenity. She was always losing the things that she loved. Her name meant peace and yet everything in her life seemed to only be full of chaos. At the age of 5 her wealthy adoring parents were murdered at their estate for money. It was heart break for young sweet Serenity. She was then adopted by her great aunt Constance who passed away in her sleep when she was 10 years of age. Her step uncle Norman became her guardian and thought it best to send her to boarding school to mourn. He had his own hidden agenda and thought the further she was from home the better. Not knowing that she had inherited all monies and assets from her parents and great aunt, Serenity never returned to Virginia again. Her heart ached for the family she had loved and lost. Learning to become a woman in Boston was not only a challenge, but was lonely as well. Girls in boarding school were cruel and jealous of Serenity. She excelled in every class, was writing for the school paper and sang like an angel. At 5'7 with green eyes, black ravenous hair and perfect olive toned skin she was the envy of every girl. She was now as alone as she had ever been without a dime to her name. A black limo with tinted windows pulled up to the curb without a sound. He was watching her every move and for a split second felt guilty for what he had done. Landon had a job to do. He was suppose to lure this girl to trust him, steal her belongings and shoot her. He had the pistol in his pocket with all bullets accounted for. When push came to shove he couldn't do it. He had looked deeply in her eyes and stated ,"I'm sorry" while butting her head against the brick wall. He had not only spent time with this girl, but had started to develop feelings for her as well. Who was she? Why did someone want her dead? These were questions he wanted answered, and soon. Roll down the window and shoot or continue driving to find the answers to her story?
